Shopping For Cookware Made Easy

THE QUESTION AND ANSWER PORTION OF THIS SEGMENT

cookwareShopping for cookware and grease interceptors for your eatery can be a challenging prospect. There are so many materials and brands to choose from. Sometimes it’s harder to tell the difference between the good brands and the not-so-good brands.

This question and answer portion will hopefully make your life a bit easier.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COPPER AND STAINLESS STEEL

Truth be told, every material out there is going to have its own pros and cons. You are never going to find a material that is 100% effective and reliable. Copper will conduct heat much better. The only downside is that it’s much more expensive than the rest. It is also harder to clean.

Stainless steel is very durable and reliable. In fact, it’s one of the more durable products on the market. The only issue is that it takes some work to keep it clean. I mean you really have to get in there.

The other downside is that it’s a very poor conductor of heat. Aluminum is a good choice for performance, but it does have a finish on it. The metal will turn your food grey too, so watch out for that. It’s best to use a non-stick coating, but even with that you have to work to keep it clean. As I said, there are pros and cons to everything. You have to choose what is best for you.

IS BUYING A SET WORTH THE PRICE

Yes and no. If you do not need every thing in the set, you will be wasting your money. Some of the saucers and pans that come in a set you can get elsewhere for a decent price. If you are planning to use the whole thing, then consider doing it. Sometimes it makes more sense to buy the pieces separately. You can find some really great deals at some of the cookware stores. All you have to do is look.

cookwareWHAT ABOUT COOKWARE WITH A NONSTICK FINISH

It is recommended. Your pans won’t have as much fat stuck in the bottom of them. This will make cleaning up a fast and easy concept. I have these at home. I just wipe a towel in the bottom of the pan and I am done. The pan is clean and ready to use again. There aren’t any food leftovers on the bottom either.

WHAT ABOUT THE HANDLES

The best choice for purchase are the silicone handled ones. The riveted ones are good too. Point of interest, the riveted ones will require more work to clean. If you don’t mind “getting in there” at the end of the day, these are more durable. They will also last much longer.
